About Port St. Lucie FL

Port St. Lucie is a city in the state of Florida that is situated around 125 miles on the southeast direction of Orlando and 114 miles from Miami. It is the most populous municipality in the St. Lucie County. While also been the principal city of the Port St. Lucie Metropolitan region. Port St. Lucie is as well part of the Miami – Fort Lauderdale – Port St. Lucia Combined Statistical region. In the mid 20th century, this Florida city was mostly an uninhabited parcel of land on the southern direction of White City.
 
In 1958, the General Development Corporation bought the River Park development and a further 40,000 acres of land along the North Fork and St. Lucie River. In the following year, this company constructed the very first bridge across the St. Lucie River, which permitted direct vehicle access to the City of Port St. Lucie. By 1961, 250 homes had been built in the city. The City of Port St. Lucie was officially incorporate into a city later on in the same year. In the early 1990s, Core Communities bought and started to plan for what would emerged as St. Lucie West.
 
Initially, this area housed around 14,000 homes. However, when they realized just how strategic the site was, Core Communities started to construct business sectors, entertainment and leisure venues. This culminated in 7,000 new jobs been created in the diminutive city, and even steamrolled its future development in the early 2000s. In 2006, Core Communities began to develop its new community under the name of Tradition. Here, they constructed about 13,000,000 square feet of commercial area and more than 18,000 houses. In 2008, Traditional welcomed the Florida Center of Innovation, which is a research facility and campus for 2 biotech and life sciences firms. The campus by itself is estimated to bring over 30,000 new jobs to the City of Port St. Lucie.
